ROZI coffee
A moment to unwind in the city.
Tucked down a back alley in Okubo, ROZI coffee serves yakgwa sandwich cookies, scones, Americanos, and lattes in a wood-toned interior furnished with antique pieces.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Stepping into an alley off the lively main streets of Okubo brings you to ROZI coffee, where the eye is immediately drawn to the yakgwa sandwich—a modern interpretation of the traditional Korean confection. Between pairs of moist, fragrant flower-shaped yakgwa cookies, the kitchen pipes generous layers of creams and fillings such as pistachio, lemon, chocolate, and nuts. From the bright citrus tang of the lemon to the vivid hue of the pistachio visible along the cross-section, assembling an assortment of different flavors is part of the pleasure. Plain yakgwa are also served on their own, letting you appreciate their chewy, honeyed texture in its original form.
The drink lineup is equally thoughtful, designed to complement the sweet baked goods. The Americano can be tailored to individual tastes, with options ranging from clean acidity to deeper roast bitterness, alongside mellow cafe lattes, deep green matcha lattes, and sparkling fruit aids. Beyond yakgwa, the pastry selection spans scones flavored with red bean paste and butter, caramel, or cinnamon apple, as well as lemon and Earl Grey pound cakes and croffles, offering plenty of combinations depending on your mood.
Inside, exposed wooden beams and posts lend the space warmth, complemented by antique-style furnishings and potted plants that create a calm sanctuary away from the neighborhood crowds. The 2-floor layout features comfortable seating for lingering over coffee, while the baked goods are also available for takeout. PayPay is accepted alongside other payment methods, making the cafe an easy stop during an afternoon stroll for a quiet sweet treat.
